Winter Moon

Walking the shores of Lake Superior on cool nights, listening to the soft slap of the waves, and the sweet smell of pure air and soft pines fills me with awe and praise for the one who created all this. The pristine beauty of this place is but a pale shadow of the new earth that awaits those who know Jesus as Lord and put their faith in Him.
I know that in this place, I am walking on the edge of eternity and look forward to a home even better than this one.

At -40 deg, it was the coldest night of the year so far. As I walked out the door at 5:30AM I noticed the northern glow of the Aurora as it streamed across the northern sky.
With camera in hand I walked down to dark road to a nearby lake to take these images.
While taking the images, I became aware of the absolute quiet in the woods. Nothing was moving in the still, heavy, artic air as I fumbled around in the darkness setting up the tripod and camera.
It was a wonderful display of God's handiwork, I was was greatful for the ability to be able to watch as the skies displayed His glory.

Winter's Beauty

As I walked through the deep fresh snow along the shores of Lake Superior today, I couln't help but think how blessed I was to be able to breath the fresh air, feel the cool breeze, and observe the stunning beauty that God created for us here in the northland.
Often times, while out, walking the shorelines, valley's, and ridges of the area, I can't help but think how wonderful God is, and how, He, must be so much greater than this beauty that I'm surrounded with. Sometimes I feel so close to heaven out there, and yet, know that because I'm a Christian, I will one day live in a world even better.
The Bible describes a new heaven, and a new earth, much like this one, I would imagine, only better.

"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands." Psalm 19

This blog is a reflection of thoughts and reflections on what I see through the lens. I have been very blessed to be able to live in the Lake Superior area and I will enjoy sharing my thoughts during with you during the coming months.
